((Copy-pasted from Old Nary. Guess which is Kanti and the wild pokémon. XD))
Kanti walked along Route One with her new Houndour, and inhaled the sweet spring ar. It was a nice, warm, clear afternoon, unlike where someone else was. She imagined that person having thunderstorms and lightning was flashing and she shuddered, the scenario disappearing from her head. Her Houndour noticed and tilted her head, a questioning gaze sent to Kanti. "Oh, I'm fine. Don't worry." she said to the pokemon. Kanti sat upon on of the many conveniently placed large rocks, and stared back at her Houndour. Mimicking her, the Houndour sat and gave a doglike smile at her master. "You need a name." she said, placing her chin in her palms. A long pause. "How about Bree?" The Houndour replied, "Yes! I like it!"
The Beedrill were buzzing, the Pidgey were singing, ah, what a wonderful spring afternoon. Among those enjoying the good weather was a lone Stantler, trotting through the field stretched from the route off into the blue horizon. He was surveying his kingdom, and all was well under his careful kingship. At least he thought all was well, until something interrupted the gentle natural noises caressing his ears. A human voice.
Snorting his displeasure, Stantler marched over to investigate this disturbance in the force. A female human and a Houndour, both trespassing without paying the proper respects to him first. Well, he couldn't have none that now could he? Standing a little ways off, he gave them a warning in a low, loud bugle: Flee, peasants, or prepare for war.
The sun was warm, so Kanti relaxed on the large rock as Bree snuffled about and chased small pokémon. Both were oblivious to the Stantler that was surveying his land. Kanti and Bree were unsuspecting trespassers, Kanti especially so. She'd never encountered much trouble on Route One before, so her guard wasn't up. At the snort, Bree raised her head, and looked towards the noise, stiffening while her hackles raised. Kanti blinked lazily at the absence of noise from her pup. The Stantler made his warning call and Kanti immediately was alert. Her fight-or-flight instincts were warring inside of her, and she mumbled out, "Ah, uhh, ah."
Ah, one of the two peasants had acknowledged him! Not in a remotely appropriate manner, though, he had noticed right away. They should bow! Bow before their rightful king! Stantler shook his head in sad displeasure: he didn't want to do injury to his subjects, but such impudence could not go uncorrected.
Stantler charged the Houndour, Houndour being the far more aggressive challenge to his dominance here. He'd start off kind: just a straightforward Tackle, to force Bree to the ground where she belonged.
Bree yelped and rolled a few times as she was hit by the much larger pokémon. She dug her blunt claws into the earth, stopped rolling, and stood up. She shook the dirt off of her fur and gave a rather menacing growl for one of her age and size, quite irritated with this big guy already. She didn't want him hurting her master, and so she stood her ground, waiting for her orders. Kanti blinked and fight had been chosen for her. "Bree, Ember!" she called when she found her voice. Bree complied and flames shot from her mouth towards the Stantler.
Aha! Stantler struck a pose befitting his magnificent superiority, staring boldly off into the horizon and assuming that his subjects had been properly taught and would now bow, as they should. That's what he was thinking until a wave of heat struck him in the chest. He instantly dropped and rolled on his back, cursing the indignity of trying to stop his fine fur from catching fire. Clambering back on his feet, Stantler Leered at the offending Houndour, attempting to intimidate it into submission.
Tch. Kanti scoffed, her fear forgotten. This Stantler reminded her of her brother, thinking he ruled the world. But, she wanted to build her party and maybe she could befriend this guy. He wouldn't stay so kingly with her. At the Leer, Bree took a step back, her defense falling. He was much bigger than her and that angry stare... Eeps. "Smog!" Kanti called to her. Since the author has no idea how Smog appears, she has taken some liberty. A poisonous fog appeared and was sent over the the high-and-mighty Stantler
Impudent beings. Why couldn't they understand that he was doing this for their benefit? He was obviously their superior and as such it was his duty to rule them with them with strict justice and compassion and-- Stantler's thoughts derailed as he began coughing on the noxious fumes, quickly bounding out of the cloud. Not before the fast-acting poison had already set in though. Shuddering as a wave of nausea turned his stomach, he stared balefully at the trainer and houndour. Why you do this to him? Mutiny! Treason! Off with their heads... Eurgh.
Regret almost immediately washed over Kanti as she saw the Stantler become poisoned. Once Bree was sure he wasn't going to charge at her again, she turned and gave an uncertain glance to Kanti. She didn't want to continue fighting this big guy if he was poisoned. It didn't seem quite fair. Unbeknownst to Bree, that was just how battles worked, fair or not. Mulling over the situation for a moment, Kanti decided to walk closer to the Stantler in order to communicate. She didn't get too close, just a few feet behind Bree. "I'm sorry for doing this to you." she said, the apology written on her face. "To heal you, I'd need to capture you and have you become part of my team. Would that be alright with you?"
